.
Schedule a meeting with the executive staff as soon as possible.

Php 2:1-2 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

Finalize a senior pastor profile based on all the focus groups’ and the executive staff’s input.

Mt 18:19-20 Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.

Clarity and peace for Gary and Jory about the schedule/process of transition.

Phil 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.

An Exquisite View Of God’s Greatness
The pastor search committee will continue to provide material to encourage praise and thanks as a part of your prayers for the committee activities.

“Without doubt, the mightiest thought the mind can entertain is the thought of God, and the weightiest word in any language is the Word for God…” “…the most portentous fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like….”A. W. Tozer

The people to whom God has allowed the most intimate relationship with Him are those with the highest esteem for the greatness of His Being.

Paul – Romans 11:33–36 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! … For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

“But if God be indeed so great, and so excellent, that all other beings are as nothing to him, and all other excellency be as nothing and less than nothing, and vanity in comparison of his; and God be omniscient and infallible and perfectly knows that he is infinitely the most valuable Being; then it is fit that his heart should be agreeable to this, … and so ’tis fit and suitable that he should value himself infinitely more than his creatures.” Jonathan Edwards

Heb 13:15 “…therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.”

“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” Dr. John Piper

Being satisfied in relation to a person is a state of mind wherein the person being satisfied is happy or pleased as their perceived expectations (needs/desires), for that person are being met or exceeded.

“And the redeemed, by reason of the greatness of their dependence on God, have not only so much the greater occasion, but obligation to contemplate and acknowledge the glory and fullness of God. How unreasonable and ungrateful should we be, if we did not acknowledge that sufficiency and glory which we absolutely, immediately, and universally depend upon!” J. Edwards

What is it about the God you know and love that is satisfying you? Tell Him!

Is it knowing His extreme PLEASURE in your devotion to Him

Job 1:8 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.”

Is it sensing His continuous PRESENCE in your daily living

Jn 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you.”

Is it having confidence in His awesome POWER to overcome all obstacles in living for Him?

Eph 1:18-19 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know … what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might…”

Is it experiencing His unique PEACE when the world is falling apart all around you?

Jn 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

Is it the realization of His eternal PURPOSE in everything you do?

2 Tim 1:9 who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

Is it an awareness of His sovereign PROTECTION from all kinds of evil?

Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Is it appreciating His complete PROVISION for your every need?

Php 4:19 And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Is it grasping the scope of His precious PROMISES for facing life’s challenges with hope?

2 Pet 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust

Is it learning the full extent of His perfect PATIENCE with your imperfect obedience?

1 Tim 1:16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. 1/23/19

The following 6 requests are continuing requests for the committee. The current activities requests section below will focus on current events.

Unity – within the Search Committee

Between the Search Committee, the Succession Committee, Elders, Staff, and congregation

Humility – a willingness to listen and respect the opinions of others so that God’s will can be discerned.

Transparency – the committee members will be examples of those who honor the Lord in their lives.

Fervency – all who participate will undergird everything with a sense of dependency on God’s direction through prayer.

Clarity – Communicate pertinent information accurately and timely.

Responsibility – each person will take on their respective tasks with excellence and zeal.

Current activities for prayer.

Analyze and incorporate feedback from the focus meeting with the staff team leaders in developing the candidate profile.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Proverbs 3:5-6    Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Insight and wisdom in pursuing a search firm to supply candidate names.

Proverbs 1:5   Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance–

Proverbs 15:22   Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.

Proverbs 19:20   Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.

Identifying additional focus groups and strategy for assessing the present and future needs of the church.

Philippians 1:9-11 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.

Ps 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

The pastor search committee will continue to provide material to encourage praise and thanks as a part of your prayers for the committee activities.

Rom 11:36 For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory. To him be glory evermore.

It is within the nature of God that He has certain qualities that make Him God. In fact, without those qualities, He would not be God. Three such qualities are His power, His knowledge, and His presence.

God’s Power – In order for God to be God He must have the power to accomplish all that He wills. If He does not possess such power, He would be subject to the will of another. Thus, as God, He is omnipotent.

Jer 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Is 40:22, 28

So, there is no need for panic or paranoia because God’s infinite power is there to help you cope with any trial or trauma you may face in life.

1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. Jn 16:32, Php 4:13

God’s Knowledge – In order for God to be God He must have the knowledge of all that has been, is, and will be. If He does not possess such knowledge, He would have to learn, adapt and change. Thus, as God, He is omniscient.

Is 46:9-10 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. Ps 139:1-6, Act 15:18

So, there is no need to be perplexed or presumptive because God’s perfect knowledge of all things is guiding all His decisions and available at all times to guide and direct all your decisions and activities.

Jas 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. Pr 3:5-6, Jas 3:17

God’s Presence – In order for God to be God, He must be present in all that is created at all times and at the same time separate from what is created (transcendent). If He is not present in all that is created, there would be places where he did not exist. Thus, as God, He is omnipresent.

Jer 23:23-24 “Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “and not a God far away? Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD. Ps 139:7-10, Ezk 48:35

So, there is no need to be pouty or possessive because the fullness of God’s person is present with you at all times and in all places, even though He is physically invisible.

Heb 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Jn 8:29, 2 Tim 4:

Living Water – Jn 7:38-39 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”  By this, he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (NIV)

Teacher – Jn 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (NIV)

Westminster Succession Prayer Gathering

October 28, 6:30-7:30 PM, Sanctuary

As we enter this season of succession with our beloved Westminster church community, we are reminded of the importance and power of community prayer.  We serve a sovereign God that has mighty plans for Westminster Chapel and it is our desire to honor Him fully through this process.

Beginning now, we are entering into a regular rhythm of community prayer during this important process that we believe He has fully ordained and is guiding.  Please join us as we corporately look to seek His will in the succession process as a faith community.
